Jaipur, March, 2019 .
A 5-day cultural programme and exhibition – ‘Octave 2019’ will be held from 26 March to 30 March at the Shilpgram at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). The event will stage cultural performances and an exhibition displaying handicrafts products of the North Eastern states of India. It is being organized jointly by JKK and the North Zone Cultural Center, Patiala, under the Ministry of Culture’s Octave Scheme, in which a total of 350 artistes and 80 artisans will present their performing arts as well as handicrafts. The inauguration for the event will be held on 26 March at 6.00 p.m.
The cultural programme will witness performances by the folk artistes from 8 states of North Eastern Region including Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Assam and Tripura. Two classical performances of Satriya and Manipur Ras will also be presented during the programme. The timings for the cultural evenings will be from 6.30 pm.
The event will also include a handicraft exhibition in which around 40 handicrafts of North East will be on display as well as sale. The Craft shops will be open for visitors from 3.00 pm onwards.
It is to be noted that this is probably the first major event of artistes from the North East region in Jaipur. The entry to the programme will be free and admission will be granted from gate number 3 of JKK.
