Udaipur, August 2026.
Udaipur
Katha, the signature restaurant at Sterling Jaisinghgarh Udaipur, has been
recognised as the ‘Best Speciality Restaurant in the Boutique Hotel
category’ at the Travel + Leisure Delicious Dining Awards 2026.
The
recognition celebrates Udaipur Katha’s distinctive interpretation of
Rajasthan’s culinary heritage — bringing together regional flavours,
contemporary presentation, warm hospitality and an immersive setting that
reflects the spirit of Udaipur.
Conceived
as ‘Mewar’s evening ritual’, Udaipur Katha was launched during the New
Year’s Eve celebrations in December. Built around fire, flavour and
storytelling, its menu carries the character of Rajasthan through signature
dishes such as BBQ Laal Maas, ZaffraniBoti, Jackfruit Shashlik, Ghewar
Cheesecake and Baked Churma Tart. Rooftop dining, sundowners, traditional
music, dance and cultural evenings extend the experience beyond the plate,
bringing the destination alive through food and atmosphere.
The
award also comes alongside strong guest and business traction. Between January
and July 2026, Udaipur Katha’s Tripadvisor ranking improved from 57 to 34 among
Udaipur restaurants, while maintaining an outstanding 4.9 rating on both
Tripadvisor and Google.
Commenting on the recognition, Anupam Dutta, Chief
Marketing Officer, Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited, said:“Udaipur
Katha is a wonderful example of what happens when the character of a
destination is brought alive through food, storytelling and warm hospitality.
Across Sterling, we are discovering and bringing to the fore such hidden jewels
within our destinations, giving them a distinctive identity through concepts
rooted in local flavours, culture and stories.
Food can be much more than
an accompaniment to a stay. A thoughtfully created and consistently delivered
restaurant can become an experience in its own right — and even a reason to
visit the destination. This recognition for Udaipur Katha is an important
validation of that belief.”
Udaipur Katha reflects a broader evolution in
Sterling’s food and beverage strategy — from operating restaurants as service
extensions to building distinctive culinary brands within our resorts. This approach
is taking shape across concepts such as Amo Odisha in Puri, The Malabar in
Wayanad, Pahaare – Tastes of Gorkha in Darjeeling, Ocean’s Kitchen in Alleppey,
Doon Diner in Mussoorie and Slate & Pearl at Kodai Lake.
Each of these concepts is designed to give the resort
a stronger local identity, drawing from the region’s ingredients, traditions,
stories and setting. For Sterling, speciality dining is becoming an important
lever to enhance guest experience, strengthen resort recall and build appeal
beyond resident guests. Udaipur Katha’s recognition reinforces this direction
and underlines the opportunity to scale more such destination-rooted culinary
concepts across the portfolio.
