Celebrating the spirit of love and togetherness that defines the festive season, Indriya, Aditya Birla Jewellery, unveils Padmika, its new 22kt[SC1] [PC2] gold festive collection inspired by Goddess Lakshmi. Padmikabrings the symbolism of Lakshmi to life through jewellery designed for festive dressing, with motifs that represents prosperity, blessings and auspicious beginnings reinterpreted through a contemporary design lens.
At the heart of Padmika is the interplay of heritage
craftsmanship and colour. The collection revives the fading art of GulabiMeenakari,
a traditional pink enamel craft, and pairs it with accents of Blue Meenakari,
creating a distinctive expression of colour and contrast. These vibrant enamel
details are brought together with auspicious motifs such as Goddess Lakshmi and
the lotus, a symbol that holds special significance, as Padmika means
“the one who is born from the lotus.” Together, these elements create a rich
visual language across the collection. This craftsmanship comes alive through
contemporary designs that reinterpret traditional techniques for the modern
wearer, offering statement appeal while remaining effortless to wear through
the festive season.
Complementing this expression is the collection’s use of
radiant yellow gold, one of the defining jewellery trends of the season. Across
necklaces, earrings, bangles and other jewellery forms, Padmika brings the
warmth and richness of yellow gold to the festive wardrobe, balancing its
timeless allure with contemporary silhouettes. The result is a collection that
feels both rooted in tradition and relevant for the modern wearer.
[SC3] Commenting on the collection launch, Sandeep
Kohli, CEO, Indriya, said: "The festive season remains one of the most
significant periods for the jewellery industry, driven by a deep cultural
affinity for celebration, gifting and auspicious purchases. With Padmika, we
sought to create a collection that captures the spirit of these celebrations
through jewellery that feels meaningful, joyful and timeless. Inspired by the
idea of prosperity and auspicious beginnings, themes deeply woven into India's
festive traditions, the collection is our tribute to these enduring sentiments.
Padmika also reflects our commitment to preserving and celebrating India's rich
jewellery heritage, including reviving the fading art of GulabiMeenakari
through a contemporary lens. Designed to celebrate life's meaningful moments,
the collection is intended to become a cherished part of festive memories for
years to come."
Abhishek Rastogi, Head of Design, Indriya,
added, "The
starting point for Padmika was the idea of auspiciousness and how deeply it is
embedded in the way we celebrate. The story of Samudra Manthan, and Lakshmi’s
emergence from the cosmic ocean seated upon a lotus, gave us a rich design
language rooted in prosperity and renewal. We looked at the symbols associated
with her story as carriers of meaning, and reinterpreted them as contemporary
heirlooms that can hold that significance for a new generation. We have also
introduced touches of soft pink through BanarasiMeenakari, bringing a sense of
freshness to the traditional craft. The result is jewellery that feels rooted
in Indian tradition, but has the versatility and ease to become part of
contemporary festive dressing."[MG4]
Traditional symbols,
contemporary designs
At
the heart of Padmika is the story of Lakshmi’s emergence during the Samudra
Manthan, a narrative long associated with prosperity, abundance, beauty and
auspicious new beginnings. Drawing from this symbolism, the collection
reinterprets enduring emblems, from the lotus and Lakshmi to Gaja, Shankh,
Shriphal, Kalash and Kasu coins, through contemporary forms and proportions.
The collection brings these symbols together in yellow gold,
with a design vocabulary that moves between sculptural forms and intricate
detailing. Pink BanarasiMeenakari adds a softer, contemporary dimension, with
delicate pink hues applied across lotus petals and ornamental motifs. Set
against radiant gold, the enamel brings colour and freshness to the designs
while highlighting the craft’s heritage character.
Kaarigari at the Heart of
