With the
disruption caused owing to the sudden emergence of Covid-19, the education
system has completely transformed from offline to online. Riding on the growth
of the EdTech sector, Indian Edtech major Meritnation, a subsidiary of test
preparation leader Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), has recorded an impressive
growth in terms of paid users from the city ofJaipurin Rajasthan.
Meritnation
has registered a Six-Fold growth in minutes of Live Classes attended by premium
users in recent months. A whopping 5X and 6X growth was recorded in Live Class usage
by students inMathematics and Science respectively.
The increase in percentage is calculated by comparing the
recent monthly usage of Live Classes by premium users to their usage in the
beginning of the lockdown.As per the data,a
majority of this growth was contributed during the lockdown.

on the impressive growth, Mr Narasimha Jayakumar, CEO, AakashEdutech Pvt. Ltd.

the new normal with the emergence of Covid-19 since March 2020. To seamlessly
continue with the studying process, students in large percentages are adopting the

Meritnation

classes in 2014. Till date it has over 2.5 crore registered students, 10
million plus app installs and over 47 million tests attempted. Aakash
Educational Services Limited (AESL) acquired Meritnation, an Ed-tech company
catering to K12 students, in January 2020 by entering into a definitive
agreement with Info Edge (India) Limited to acquire Applect Learning Systems
Private Limited.
