Goa, February 12, 2021.

After yet another scintillating come-from-behind result against Mumbai City FC, FC Goa will look to carry home the momentum and bring upon their wrath on Chennaiyin FC on Saturday.

Juan Ferrando saw his man fight valiantly last game - first to come from two goals down and bring back parity. And then overcome a 90th-minute sucker punch and deliver one of their own six minutes later.

Whilst nine-game unbeaten streaks are one to be celebrated, the Gaurs will look to step up a notch against Chennaiyin FC and go beyond a point - something they have accrued in all previous five games.

With the business end of the season near us, both sides will look to hit the pedal to the metal and eke out a vital win. And to give you a bigger and wider picture of what awaits us on Saturday night, here are 10 things you should know:

3.4 - No other team sees their shot blocked as much as Chennaiyin. The Marina Machans on average see 3.4 shots on goal blocked by the opposition - joint highest alongside Kerala Blasters. The Gaurs produce 2.3 such shots per game on average.

7.6 - FC Goa leads the league in average passes in goal-scoring attacks. The Gaurs average 7.6 passes in attacks leading to goals, nearly double of the team in second place (Mumbai with 3.9 passes). Chennaiyin is at the bottom in this respect with an average of 1.88 passes. 

8: Chennaiyin FC is without a clean sheet in their last 8 games against FC Goa. The last time they kept a clean sheet against the Gaurs was during the 2nd leg of the semi-finals in March 2018, when they ran out 3-0 winners at home. The Gaurs have also failed to keep a clean sheet against the Marina Machans in their last 4 games against them.

15: Chennaiyin leads the league in terms of the number of counter-attacking possessions per game. The Marina Machans on an average break on the counter 15 times in a game. FC Goa, meanwhile, counter-attack 11 times in a game on average.

18: No team has scored more goals from open play than FC Goa. The Gaurs lead the league with 18 strikes from open play. Chennaiyin is joint lowest in this regard with 7 goals scored from open play.

24: FC Goa’s philosophy of retaining possession is exemplified in their average duration of attacks leading the goals. On average, the Gaurs keep possession for 24 seconds for every goal-scoring attack. The next highest is that of Mumbai at 13.1 seconds. For Chennaiyin the number is 7.2 seconds.

30: Lallianzuala Chhangte’s mark of 30 key passes for the season is the highest in the league. The player with the highest number of key passes for the Gaurs is Alberto Noguera with 17 to his name - 8th highest in the ISL.

41: FC Goa on average take 12.4 shots on goal with 5.1 of them on target. Their accuracy of 41% is the best in the league. Channaiyin, on the other hand, average 12.7 shots per game while keeping 4.2 on target - a mark of 33% shot accuracy.

45:  Chennaiyin’s mark of winning 45% of Aerial Challenges is the lowest in the league. FC Goa is third-bottom in regards to the same with a mark of 48% aerial duels won.

53: Jorge Ortiz continues to lure defenders into challenges and fouls. The fleet-footed Spaniard has been fouled 53 times, the highest in the league. Close on his heels is fellow Spaniard and teammate Alberto Noguera, who has been fouled 37 times - 5th most in the league.
