Amsterdam, December 2024.
Renowned Indian installation artist VibhorSogani
returns to the Amsterdam Light Festival (ALF) for the second consecutive year
with Deepam. These intricately designed pieces are unique, collectible
works of art that embody the spirit of Diwali, blending traditional
craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. The warm, golden tones of the brass
lanterns and their dancing amber flames offer a timeless tribute to the power
of light in rituals across cultures.
Set against the backdrop of the 13th edition of ALF,
themed “Rituals,”Deepam transforms the iconic Herengracht canal into a
shimmering sea of flickering lights. The installation, spanning 100 meters,
features 70 floating lamps, each handcrafted from polished brass. Together,
they reflect the universal message of light as a symbol of hope, renewal, and
unity.
