GABA-ARCH Show, signifying 150 Years of Gandhi

Jaipur, January, 2020: ARCH College of Design & Business, hosted the opening show GABA, at Amer fort in association with the Jaipur Literature Festival.

The show is a preview to the remarkable journey of 20 years of ARCH College of Design & Business in spearheading Design Education. Showcasing the creativity of their budding designer’s, the fashion & accessory collection is a creation of the ARCH students towards a ‘Responsible’ Future signifying ‘Khadi’ as a new age fashion fabric. Each ensemble presented is inspired by the exuberant Indian Drapes & Silhouettes, adorned with indigenous surface ornamentation techniques, natural dyed with Madder representing the feel of the Pink City. The collection is a celebration of 150 year’s of Gandhi and recognition to his contribution towards ‘Khadi’ as a symbol of sustainable & conscious living.

40 garments in Ecru and Madder Colour were showcased on a music composed by Tanmay Surana, Trinati. Show was curated by Arch Director, Ms. Archana Surana

Founder & Director, ARCH College of Design and Business Ms. Archana Surana was thrilled seeing the efforts of the students and said “the collections showcased today were spell binding and are a result of consciously efforts made by our students keeping in mind the sustainability of the garment. She mentioned “Responsible Fashion and Design” as the need of the present scenario and how ARCH has encouraged its students to incorporate it in their designs to minimise waste and preserve the natural resources.”

ARCH is hosting Fashion Colloquia 2020, an International Research Conference on theme “Heritage… Stories of Change …Our Shared Future” in Jaipur. Fashion Colloquium 2020, will formally launch the Third series of Fashion Colloquia recognizing the importance of a ‘Responsible’ future.
