Poker, India’s leading digital gaming platform, and MukkaMaar, an organisation that
aims to empower girls from Municipal schools through free martial arts and
self-defence training, celebrated International Women's Dayat P A Mhatre Sports
Ground, Juhu, Mumbai.
The
team of Spartan Poker and MukkaMaar along with other personalities such as
Richa Chadda, Nilofer Khan and Meghana Kaushik came together to celebrate the
power of womanhood. The aim of this initiative was to make underprivileged
girls equipped with self-defence, and in the truest sense empowering the girls.
As
part of the programme, MukkaMaar organized an inter-school competition to
provide young girls a platform to showcase their power, strength and courage. The
event also featured impactful and fascinating performances by martial artists
and the MukkaMaar girls. In addition, MukkaMaar girls enacted various incidents
to teach young girls how to defend themselves in difficult situations and explore
their true potential. The event was attended by students, parents, teachers,
principals, and authorities from the Education office.
Commenting
on the event, actress Richa Chaddasaid,"I’m proud of the MukkaMaar team
who is continuously striving hard to reach out to underprivileged girls and
teach them self-defence. I am also very pleased to be a part of such a great initiative
on Women’s Day and would like to mention to all parents that it’s important for
young girls to be trained for martial arts and self-defence. They should be
courageous, brave and march confidently in all areas of their lives.”
Expressing
her excitement at the event, Ishita Sharma, Actress/Co-founder of MukkaMaar
said, "It’s heartening and a proud moment to see the impact of all efforts
of MukkaMaar team for another successful event. The purpose of such programmes
is to strengthen, share, and spread awareness on the roles and rights of women
in society. I believe that self-defence is very important with the power it
holds. It teaches one confidence, courage and helps break the notion of
gender-based violence. I would also like to thank the Spartan Poker team; the
event would not have been possible without their support and help."
