Jaipur, March, 2020 : With the deadline of March
31, 2020, for BS-IV transition around the corner, this week is the last
opportunity for customers to make their purchase and reap a benefit of almost
Rs. 10,000. With most companies also running exciting schemes on BS-IV
products, this price advantage can be almost Rs. 15000 depending on the
product.
Most BS-VI products launched by major companies like Hero MotoCorp, Honda, TVS are priced higher than the BS-IV products by Rs. 7000-15000. This is owing to the vehicles having expensive materials and Fuel-Injection systems to meet the strict emission norms.
According to a major two-wheeler dealer,“We have witnessed a very high demand for BS-IV vehicles over the last two months and we are almost out of stocks for our key products. We expect customer demand to increase further as the deadline approaches, but we may not have any BS-IV stocks left. Customers are aware of the price benefit and making the most of the current offers.”
Many state RTOs in the country, however, have announced that they will stop registering BS-IV vehicles from March 25, 2020, six days ahead of the deadline. For the customer, this means that they have a very narrow window left now to purchase a BS-IV vehicle.
According to another dealer, “Ideally BS-IV products should be registered till March 31, 2020, but state RTOs are putting their own guidelines in place. We will try to help our customers as much as possible, but our advice is that they should purchase the vehicles now and get the price advantage. Also, we have very limited BS-IV stocks left now.”
Over the past few months, most of the passenger vehicle manufacturers are already selling only BS-VI products. But two-wheeler makers because of their very high numbers still have some inventory of BS-IV vehicles available at their dealerships. The BS-VI emission norms are the strictest in the world and India is jumping BS-V norms to move directly from BS-IV to BS-VI norms.
