Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE)has organized a virtual conference titled, “Indo-Canadian perspectives on the application of the United Nations Convention of Rights of Persons with Disabilities in different policy domains”. The conference is funded by the prestigious Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI), Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The conference was inaugurated on 11th March 2021. Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor,MAHE presided the ceremony as the Chief Guest. He released the eProceedings of the conference and highlighted the need for collaborative research in disability.The Guests of Honour, Dr. PrachiKaul, Director, SICI, New Delhi and Dr Angela Campbell, Associate Provost, McGill University joined virtually for the ceremony. Dr. G. Arun  Maiya, Dean, Manipal College of Health Professionsprovided the  overview of conference and welcome all invited memebrs. Ms. Sidhiprada Mohapatra, Organizing Secretary, Assistant Professor, MCHP; Dr.John Solomon and Dr.Vinita A Acharya, the Heads of the Department of Physiotherapy & Occupation Therapy, MCHP, MAHE graced the occasion.This programme was virtuallyattended by over 218 delegates from India, Nepal, Switzerland and Canada. The two-day conference is being graced by 25 experts and speakers from the disciplines of law, health, rehabilitation, public health, policies, activists, anthropologists and social workers.
