The Gandhian Centre
for Philosophical Arts and Sciences (GCPAS), a constituent department of
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is conducting first-ever online
international conference on ‘ecosophy, art and peace’ (ICEAP-2021), The two-day
conference is being organised by the Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and
Sciences (GCPAS), MAHE, Manipal, in association with UNESCO Peace Chair. 40
papers related to art and peace are being presented online from different parts
of the country and abroad.
The conference is inaugurated by Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor
of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), the deemed university and
institution of eminence, on June 3 at 9.30 am. The valedictory address will be
delivered by the MAHE Executive Vice-President Dr H Vinod Bhat on June 4, 6 pm.
Prof M D Nalapat, who holds the UNESCO Peace Chair, will be present at both the
inaugural and valedictory sessions. GCPAS Director Prof Varadesh Hiregange,
there will be four special sessions by eminent writers – Prof Shiv Visvanathan
(Ecosophy, Art and Peace in the time of pandemic), Sri Sudheendra Kulkarni
(Possibilities of International Peace: A Gandhian Approach), Prof Manu
Chakravarthy (The Cosmos and Human Consciousness: Metaphysical Explorations
through Cinema), Prof Bashabi Fraser (Tagore and Environment: Philosophical
Praxis).
