Saluting the exemplary grit and bravery of the Central
Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, Hero MotoCorp, the
world's largest
manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, announced a unique package of welfare
measures for the ex-personnel and their families.
Launched under the Company’s Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) platform ‘Hero We Care’, the ‘Hero Salutes Heroes of the Nation’ project will hand over 90 retro fitted Hero Destini 125 scooters- supported
by two auxiliary wheels in the rear -which have been customised to suit the riding
requirements of the divyang ex-personnel who were disabled while in service.
As per the Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU)signed between Hero MotoCorp and the CRPF Family
Welfare Association (CWA), the project will also offer a unique welfare package
for 200 identified CRPF families who have been affected severely due to the
Coronavirus pandemic.
Hero MotoCorp aims to support women from the
affected families by creating supportive conditions to maintain their
livelihoods, providing them essential services such as food security and
nutrition along with education for their children. The company will support
children who have lost one or both of their parents or guardians and women who
have lost their spouses due to Covid-19in the country.
The
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Hero MotoCorp Ltd. and CRPF Family
Welfare Association (CWA) was signed in presence of Shri Anshuman Yadav, IPS,
Inspector General CRPF, Shri Pankaj Kumar, Deputy Inspector General (Welfare) &
Secretary CWA, Shri Shambhu Kumar, Commandant (Welfare), Shri Yuvraj Kumar,
Deputy Commandant (Welfare) & Joint Secretary CWA and Bharatendu Kabi, Head
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Communication, Hero
MotoCorp.
Appreciating the company’s contribution, Shri Anshuman Yadav, IPS, Inspector General CRPF, said, “We thank Hero
MotoCorp for partnering with us to empower the CRPF personnel who have been
disabled in the line of duty by providing them with retro-fitted scooters. In
addition to meeting their mobility needs, these special scooters will also
enablethese soldiers to lead their lives with a sense of purpose and
independence. Hero MotoCorp has also been extending immeasurable support for
the Covid-affected families and we feel humanitarian
efforts such as these go a long way in contributing to the betterment of society.
This noble initiative is certainly the beginning of a long and meaningful
association between Hero and CRPF.”

Hero MotoCorp is already partnering with the
Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) to provide mobility support in the
form of the retro-fitted scooters for ex-servicemen who have been disabled in
line of duty.
During the year, the Company handed over nearly
200 retro-scooters to these ex-soldiers of Indian Army across Gujarat,
Delhi-NCR, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar
Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand,
Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Kerala.
As part of its ‘Hero for Humanity’
program, Hero MotoCorp has also offered Livelihood Assistance, Children’s
Education & Skills Development for Women to more than 550 families across
multiple states such as Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana,
Gujarat and Odisha.
