of lung cancer in patients with apparent symptoms, poor respiratory health, and
other ailments.
Lung cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in
the world, with the number of fatalities being around the same as cancers of
breast, colon, and prostate combined. It is estimated that lung cancer makes upone
in five cancer deaths across the world. In India alone, lung cancer accounts for
5.9% of all cancers and 8.1% of all cancer-related deaths.
The patients will be screened for the presence of lung
cancer through diagnostic tests like blood tests, scans etc., before
meeting the doctor for a one-on-one consultation. With COVID-19 pandemic still in
our midst, lung health has become prominent in the last couple of years. If you
have recovered from severe COVID -19 and are experiencing long-term
complications, do attend this camp to understand the functioning of your lung
and if you are prone to lung cancer.
Dr. Naresh Somani, Head of Medical Oncology
Department, HCG Cancer Centre, Jaipur said, “The fear should not be of diagnosis, but any
delay in detecting the presence of lung cancer. If diagnosed at an early stage,
it is possible to treat and restore the quality of life. Many patients ignore the
symptoms at the initial stage and reach out to us after the cancer has
progressed. One should be aware of the symptoms being indicated by the body and
seek timely medical help.”
One of the primary reasons for lung cancer is smoking,
poor lifestyle habits, and exposure to carcinogens. “Despite repeated warningsfrom
the medical experts, the occurrence of lung cancer is growing by the day. It is
an unfortunate trend to diagnose the instances of this cancer even among the
youth. This free screening and consultation camp will help to not only detect
lung cancer at an early stage, but also lookfor its prevention,” said Dr.
