New Delhi, 20th July, 2023.
Honourable Brendan O’Connor, Minister of Skills and Training from the Government of Australia, led a delegation of senior officers on a visit to the Government ITI Pusa, New Delhi. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Ms. Trishaljit Sethi, Director General (Training), MSDE, and Ms. R. Alice Vaz, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, along with Shri Bhupesh Chaudhary, Director, from the Directorate of Training & Technical Education (DTTE), Delhi.
The esteemed dignitaries were accompanied by senior-most officers from the Ministry and the Directorate General of Training (DGT), during their visit to the institute. The delegation interacted with the students and toured the campus to observe the excellent training infrastructure and high-end equipment.
Over the years, ITI Pusa has dynamically adapted to the changing needs of industries, incorporating service trades alongside conventional trades from the manufacturing and maintenance sectors. By gradually phasing out outdated trades and introducing industry 4.0 trades like Solar Technician (Electrical), Mechanic Electric Vehicle, etc., and establishing state-of-the-art labs with advanced facilities, the institute has become a sought-after destination for skill development in Delhi.
The dedication and proactive approach of the principal, Shri Vijay Kumar, have fostered a dedicated team of trainers. This team's efforts have led to a significantly high placement rate and excellent guidance for entrepreneurship, making Government ITI Pusa stand out as a premier institute.
Expressing appreciation for the exemplary work of the entire team at the institution, Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE said, “ITIs in India are at the forefront of skill development, harnessing new technology to equip the youth with cutting-edge capabilities. By incorporating training programs on advanced technologies like IoT, AI, Robotics, and Automation, ITIs ensure students are well-prepared for the demands of modern industries. Notably, ITI Pusa stands as a shining example, playing an unmatched role in achieving the vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat and working towards the nation's goals for 2047. I firmly believe that the recent visit by the Honourable Minister of Skills and Training, Australia, and his delegation provided them with a profound understanding of the vast impact and scope of ITI skilling in India.”
The visit of the minister comes at a time when India and Australia are looking to forge a solid education and skill development partnership, fostering the shared goal of building a skilled and self-reliant workforce for both nations. India’s Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, seeking a deeper collaboration with Australia in the skill development sector, has stated that India's comprehensive strategic partnership with Australia not only benefits the people of the nations but also the world. He also assured support in ensuring world-class skilling of the Indian workforce migrating to Australia for jobs.
