New Delhi,

Optum, a leading
health solution and care delivery organization, part of UnitedHealth Group, a
Fortune 5 company, teamed up with Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation (ABBF),
a not-for-profit organization, in solidarity and support for disability
inclusion, at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2023.
This
partnership was formed with a common goal of leveraging the medium of sports to
spread awareness, break misconceptions, and provide visibility for persons with
disability and special needs.
As a part
of this collaboration, 50 Optum team members ran as allies with 50 persons with
disabilities,to complete the 4.5 km run at the Delhi marathon on Sunday, October
15, 2023.
Speaking of this collaboration, Uma
Ratnam Krishnan, Managing Director - India, Optum Global Solutions, said, “Disability
inclusion is central to who we are as a company, as we continuously strive to
improve health care accessibility, foster an inclusive culture for all types of
disabilities and offer sustainable careers at all levels. Our partnership with ABBF
for the Delhi Marathon has further enabled us to create shared experiences for
people with and without disabilities. This has been a rich learning experience
for team Optum that has inspired us to work with commitment to achieve our goalof
creating effective, inclusive solutions for everyone we are privileged to
serve.”
Divyanshu Ganatra,
Founder and Chairman, ABBF said, “The thing with sport is that it does
not care if you have a disability or not. Sport levels the playing field and
creates an equal environment for everyone to participate. And when corporates
such as Optum join in, we really start seeing some tangible change in terms of
disability inclusion, not just on the race route, but in the boardroom as well.
And that is why it is such a wonderful thing to have ABBF and Optum run
together!”
