The National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT), tasked with upskilling and empowering cooperative societies, conducted 3,619 training programs across the country during the financial year 2023-24, surpassing its target of 3,140 by 15.25 per cent.

During the financial year ending March 31, 2024, the NCCT trained 2,21,478 people associated with cooperatives in the country, registering a 10.78 per cent increase over the target of 2,00,000 participants.

The NCCT, an autonomous Society promoted by Union Ministry of Cooperation, is responsible for organizing cooperative training with focus on cooperative management and administration for the personnel working in the cooperative sector.  

After recording highest ever achievement on all fronts in the year 2022-23, the efforts of NCCT have resulted in surpassing the same during 2023-24 – be it in terms of number of training and awareness programmes conducted, or number of participants trained, or use of social media for spreading the awareness among masses about the Government of India’s schemes, programmes and new initiatives,” said a senior official of NCCT.

During 2022-23, the NCCT had conducted 3,287 training programmes across the country against the target of 1,740 programmes. The number of participants stood at 201,507 compared to the target of 43,500.

NCCT played a big role in dissemination of information about the initiatives taken by Ministry of Cooperation through utilization of various social media,” the official said.

The NCCT official further said that during 2023-24, out of the total participants, 70,169  (31.68 per cent) were women who attended the training and awareness programmes.

Of the total participants (221478), 44 per cent belonged to general category, 13 per cent from SC category, 9 per cent from ST category, and 34 per cent from OBC category.

NCCT and its training units have produced a number of successful trainees who have gone on to become cooperative leaders and managers. Besides, trainees of NCCT have been BOD/CEO/Members of primary cooperatives and federations who have also performed successfully and their stories have been covered in various publications.

During the year 2023-24, NCCT and its training units also signed several new MoUs and entered into partnerships with leading international and national organizations, institutions, universities, and industries.###
