Turkish Airlines,
the airline that flies to more countries than any other, hasannounced its
sponsorship for the 3rd World Sport Tourism Congress (WSTC), organized
by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism)and the Government of the Region
of Madrid (Comunidad de Madrid). Under the theme ‘Tourism and Sport
Creating a Lasting Legacy for Destinations’, the event is being held at
the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid on 28-29 November, bringing
together leaders and experts from around the world to promote sport tourism as
a driver of sustainable development.
WSTC, which brings together representatives
from governments, sports organizations, tourism companies and other key
players, will explore innovative ideas, best practices and knowledge on the
subject, including its economic impact, its contribution to the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) and strategies to effectively promote destinations
through sport events and sponsorships.
As a global sponsor of sports, Turkish
Airlines has consolidated its presence in disciplines such as basketball via
Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, in football by supporting global teams and events along
with a constant presence in other sports such as golf and polo. These
sponsorships underline flag carrier’s commitment to sports and culture,

itself the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 based on its 'Tomorrow
On-Board' initiative.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the objectives of the International
Air Transport Association.
