New Delhi Aug 2025.
In line
with India’s vision of becoming a global hub for higher education, SRM
Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has welcomed over 200
international students to its Ramapuram
and Tiruchirappalli campuses for the 2025 academic session. These students, along with their
families, have travelled from countries such as Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal,
Thailand, Singapore, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, choosing SRMIST as
their destination for quality higher education and a global future.
To mark the induction of these students, SRMIST
organised a special Heritage Visit
to help them experience the rich cultural heritage of India. This initiative
was designed to make the students feel welcome, introduce them to the country’s
traditions, and build a sense of connection and community from the very
beginning.
Speaking about this initiative, Dr. Kathiravan Kannan, Director at SRM
Group of Institutions,
said: “We are proud to welcome students
from across Asia and the Middle East to our campuses. These young minds have
chosen SRMIST as the stepping stone to the future. Our goal is not only to
provide excellent education but also to create a supportive and inclusive
environment where students from different cultures can thrive.”
The
international students have enrolled in a range of undergraduate programmes
such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning,
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, and
Biotechnology, as well as postgraduate programmes including Biotechnology,
Computer Science Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering.
SRMIST offers interdisciplinary courses, experienced faculty, and modern
facilities, making it a popular choice for students from around the world.
SRMIST’s dedicated International Relations
Office plays a key role in supporting international students before and
after their arrival. From assistance with visa processing and accommodation to
orientation programs and language support, the university ensures that every
student has a smooth transition into academic and campus life.
What makes SRMIST stand out is its emphasis on
global exposure and cultural integration. The university believes that
learning happens in classrooms as well as from shared experiences,
cross-cultural friendships, and exposure to diverse ideas. Activities like the
Heritage Visit are part of SRMIST’s broader efforts to encourage intercultural
dialogue and mutual respect among students.
As international students begin their journey
at SRMIST, they join a vibrant community committed to academic excellence,
innovation, and global engagement. The
institution remains dedicated to supporting their aspirations and shaping
well-rounded individuals prepared to succeed in a globalised world.
