Hyderabad, 6th March 2020: India's largest payments company Paytm has launched a QR-code based metro ticketing system in a strategic partnership with Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited. This brand new service would give commuters in Hyderabad the option to travel seamlessly and avoid long queues to buy tokens at metro stations. They can now simply purchase a QR ticket on their Paytm app, which can be displayed at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to proceed for the journey.

This feature will help over 14 lakh riders using metro services every day to book Single, Return, Store Value & Trip Pass ticket using the Paytm app and experience seamless connectivity. These tickets can also be pre-booked and come with a validity of one day. This innovative service was launched by NVS Reddy, MD- Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited at Rail Bhavan on Thursday. The company further plans to extend this service to metro-feeder buses to ensure last-mile connectivity in the city.  

Speaking on the occasion, Abhay Sharma, Senior Vice President - Paytm said, "The QR-code based ticket booking feature launched in partnership with Hyderabad Metro Rail on our app would help in reducing congestion on the ticket counters at the metro stations. Thanks to Hyderabad Metro Rail, we would now be able to help metro riders to travel conveniently and book tickets on the go."

KVB Reddy, MD- L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited said, "The launch of mobile QR ticketing on Hyderabad Metro in partnership with Paytm help people of Hyderabad to book digital ticket seamlessly and create mark in industry."

Paytm provides multiple products & services like Metro Card recharges, mobile-based ticketing and trip pass for Bengaluru Metro, Hyderabad Metro, Delhi Metro, and Mumbai Metro. Also, it is the first company to launch QR-based tickets for Mumbai Metro and is expanding this service to other major cities as well.
