Since their launch, both Shriram Super 252 & 272 wheat seeds have gained popularity among farmers across various regions in Rajasthan. These varieties have been developed by world-renowned wheat scientist at Shriram Fertilizers and Chemicals in 2016.

Shriram Super 252 & 272 wheat seeds are popular due to their adaptability and higher yields. They also have high degree of tolerance to yellow rust disease making them the preferred choice of seeds for wheat in northern Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Terai region.

The characteristics of Shriram Super 252 and 272 wheat seeds include higher tillering; bold-big & golden grains and appropriate crop height. These have strong tillers therefore lower complaints of lodging.  Shriram Super 252 is also known for it’s suitability for early and late sowing.

Santuram Sen from Bansaur, Alwar in Rajasthan had sown Shriram Super 272 in 2 acres out of his 5 acre land alongside the other regular variety he usually cultivates after seeing a demonstration from Shriram Farm Solutions in the village.

He is extremely delighted by his decision as he was able to get an average yield of about 25 qtl per acre which is approx per acre 3 qtl more than what he has got from other variety. This has translated to an additional profit of approx ₹ 6000 - 6500 per acre. He has found striking difference in terms of number of grains per spike with Shriram Super 272 having around 70-80 grains per spike while other variety having 55-60 grains per spike. Looking at the bigger length of the ear, higher number of tillers (10-12 per plant), appropriate height of around 3 feet and no issue of lodging, Santuram is planning to sow Shriram Super 272 in entire 5 acre land in the upcoming season and also urges other farmers to do so.

Farmers across Rajsthan have experienced similar success using Shriram Super 252 wheat seeds also . A young farmer Arshdeep Singh from Sriganganagar had sown Shriram Super 252 in 10 acres after getting additional profits last year. He observed that Shriram Super 252 has appropriate height of 3 feet, good ear length, around 80-82 grains per spike as against 60-65 grains per spike in other varieties and good fodder quantity

He was able to get a significant 2 qtl per acre more than other popular variety which translated to an additional profit of 4000-5000 per acre. He strongly recommends his fellow farmers to use Shriram Super 252 and see the results for themselves.
