Vedanta Ltd., has partnered with the Apollo Hospitals Guwahati, and organized
the first health camp on 21st December 2020 which will continue till 23rd
December 2020 in Jorhat District of Assam. The second series of health camp
will be organized between 8th January 2021 to 10th January
2021 covering villages under Central Jorhat and Kailiapani Block (Teok Circle)
of Jorhat District. The health camp was inaugurated by Shri TapanGohain, ADC- Jorhaton 21st December 2020 at
KheroniBasti, Teok, Jorhat, and has benefited 200 villagers on the day of
inauguration itself. During the inauguration, the honorable Chief Guest Shri
Tapan Gohain congratulated Cairn Vedanta and Apollo Hospitals Guwahati for
organizing the health camp which is much needed for the community. He
highlighted on the importance of conducting intervention which provides
healthcare services are doorstep of the community. He also advised Cairn
Vedanta to conduct such health camps periodically at least once every month or
every two months.
The services provided during
the health camps included; free of cost general health check-ups including; eye and dental screening, random blood sugar,
BMI and nutrition consultation and free medicine.
Mr. Arunabh Parasher, Regional Head, North East India (New
Ventures), Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd. said, “Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted
access to various services including healthcare, therefore, this health camps
has been launched with a motto to bring basic healthcare facilities to people
in villages at their door step”. Based on the experience from these camps, our
aim is to come up with a plan to conduct periodic health camps which provides
qualitative basic health care tailored to the need of the community.
