Jaipur, May 2023.
In a significant achievement, Dhanuka Agritech Ltd (DAL), one
of India's premier agrochemical companies, has been classified as a Grade A
manufacturer by the Rajasthan government. The classification is based on an
extensive analysis of samples collected over the last five years, which
demonstrates DAL's commitment to providing high-quality insecticides to the
farmers of Rajasthan and beyond.
The Department of Agriculture in Rajasthan recently released
a provisional list categorizing various insecticide manufacturers and
formulators into different grades, namely A, B, C, N, and Non-Descriptive. This
initiative aims to ensure effective sampling and maintain an internal quality
control mechanism within the industry.
DAL's exemplary track record in delivering superior quality
products is evident from the data compiled by the government. Out of the 440
samples analyzed during the five-year period, only one sample was found to be
substandard, accounting for a mere 0.23% of the total. This exceptional
performance firmly establishes DAL's commitment to maintaining the highest
standards in crop protection.
Furthermore, in the most recent year, 2022-23, DAL underwent
rigorous testing with 100 samples, all of which passed the quality assessment.
This outstanding result highlights the company's unwavering dedication to
providing farmers with effective and reliable insecticides.
DAL's achievement as a Grade A company is a testament to its
unwavering pursuit of excellence in the agricultural sector. With over 328
total registrations, DAL offers a comprehensive range of products including
herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators/bio-stimulants,
seed treatment pesticides, and surfactants. Its extensive market penetration
and partnerships with leading international companies from the United States,
Europe, and Japan further solidify DAL's position as a pioneer in crop
protection solutions.
To bolster its commitment to research and development, DAL
recently established the Dhanuka Agritech Research and Technology (DART) Lab in
Palwal, Haryana. This state-of-the-art facility will further enhance DAL's
capabilities in developing innovative solutions for plant protection, ensuring
farmers have access to cutting-edge technologies.
The recognition bestowed upon Dhanuka Agritech Ltd by the
Rajasthan government is not only a testament to the company's exceptional
quality standards but also an opportunity for farmers across India to place
their trust in a brand that consistently delivers reliable and effective crop
protection solutions. As DAL continues to drive forward in its mission to
support India's agriculture sector, farmers can rest assured that they are
partnering with a company that prioritizes their well-being and strives for
excellence.
While DAL's achievements are commendable, it is crucial for
the government to adopt effective mechanisms for quality control and sampling
across the agrochemical industry. The robust sampling and analysis mechanism
implemented by the Government of Rajasthan since 2012-13 serves as an excellent
model for other state governments to follow. By categorizing companies based on
their sampling results, like the Union Government categorizes export houses, it
ensures transparency and accountability.
It is imperative that the government ensures unbiased
mechanisms to draw samples for quality assessment. Currently, the data shows
that most samples were drawn from companies in the A and B categories, while
companies in the C and D categories were left out. To curb illegal businesses
and apprehend defaulters, a uniform mechanism for drawing samples from all
companies involved in agrochemical manufacture and trade should be strictly
followed, as per the guidelines of the Insecticide Act, 1968. The government
should publish data on sampling and analysis for all companies, not just the
branded ones, as done by the Government of Rajasthan since the financial year
2012-13.
Drawing a parallel with the pharmaceutical sector, where the
Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) conducts joint inspections
of drug manufacturing units with State Drugs Control Administration, the
government should consider implementing a similar risk-based approach for
pesticide units. By inspecting all pesticide units to whom registration
certificates have been issued, the government can ensure better quality control
and curb the proliferation of fake and sub-standard agrochemicals.
As Dhanuka Agritech Ltd sets new benchmarks in quality
assurance and research-driven solutions, it aims to revolutionize the
agriculture industry and empower farmers with the tools they need to achieve
greater yields and secure their livelihoods. However, to truly protect the
interests of farmers and promote the use of genuine and effective
agrochemicals, the government must take strict actions against companies
selling fake, sub-standard, or illegal pesticides. By adopting effective
mechanisms for quality control and sampling and conducting inspections across
all pesticide units, the government can ensure the well-being of farmers and
the growth of the agricultural sector.
