Mumbai, December 2020.
Kolkata based Magma Foundation will welcome the new year by hosting 54 Health Camps pan India in January 2021 with a focus to offer quality treatment to the rural poor. Estimated 5000 people will benefit from these camps.
Anaemia is widespread in India, about 58.6% children and 50.4% pregnant women are been found to be anaemic, as per reports available. India still carries a burden of this disease despite having an Anaemia Control Program for nearly50 years. The proposed generic OPD health camps will aim to provide quality treatment to the poor living away from the city limits, where the health infrastructure is sub-optimal. The camps will also conduct tests like Hemoglobin, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and BMI and offer generic OTC medicines free of cost.
Speaking on the program, Kaushik Sinha, Trustee- Magma Foundation said, “India needs more of such program to help the poor especially the women cope with Anaemia and Malnutrition. Magma Foundation has been working in this area over the past 3 years and through our 300 odd M CARE camps held, about 25,000 poor people have benefitted so far. We are again resuming these camps after a brief gap caused by the pandemic. We will ensure COVID 19 norms are strictly followed at these camps and will also distribute mask to each visiting patient to create awareness of using mask and social distancing”, he added.
Magma has been constantly at work for providing healthcare benefits to the poor and marginalized. Apart from the M CARE camps, through Magma Highway Heroes Camps, which aim at offering quality services to the Truckers community including rad safety training and fuel management, Magma has provided healthcare benefits to nearly 1 Lac Truck drivers during the past 5 years.
