Shlok Banerjee, a 10-year-old grade 4 student from Euroschool Airoli has achieved something which only 1% of students across the globe able to bring off. On a journey of illuminating the name of his school, he stood 1st in globe from India and has won the Gold medal accolade at World International Mathematical Olympiad final competition. The competition held in the first week of January 2021 and the results were recently announced.
Shlok successfully attempted 30 questions in a given time duration of 120 minutes and hence secured a Gold medal. He got this opportunity to participate in WIMO after winning in Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) conducted by Global Olympiads Academy (is this correct please clarify). WIMO provides an International Mathematical Olympiad platform to all HKIMO OR TIMO final round gold winners. After the competition, WIMO offers all participants to learn from IMO Trainers at the end of the year.
Ecstatic with the success, Shlok said, “Mathematics is my favourite subject in which I usually score the highest. But I thought only scoring highest in exams is not enough, I thought if I start solving tough questions, it will eventually help me in furnishing my skill in solving problems in day to day life which is an important aspect for the future. My school helped me a lot in this regard. I thank my principal and teachers who invested their precious time in me and moulding me for this competition.

It is immensely heart-warming to congratulate Shlok on his recent achievements. This is a testament to their strength of mind, spirit, and character. Shlok is a gem of our school who has participated in many national and international competitions and earned prestige for the school. Despite being a grade 5 student, he’s got a special ability to solve mathematics questions of higher classes. The entire school is proud of him and the faculty members due to whom he is what he is today. I wish him luck for his future endeavours”,
