Jaipur, August13th, 2022.

In the ongoing celebrations of the 75 Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, TirangaYatra by Rajasthan Patrika group, Rajasthan Road Riders a cycle group from Jaipur extended their support to World Animal Protection to spread awareness on the plight of elephants used as attractions for tourism in Jaipur on the occasion of World Elephant Day.

The Yatra was flagged off from Patrika Gate on August 13th 2022, rallying through to JLN Marg to Albert Hall culminating at Patrika Gate.

The elephants in Amer Fort are part of the tourism attraction package that subjects these wild animals to live in unnatural conditions and bear a life of suffering.

I would like to thank all our supporters and partners to strengthen this cause. Our effort is an extension of the vow made under Resolve@75 where we are bringing alive our commitment towards the ‘Planetand People’ while being driven by a deep sense of Purpose for our co-inhabitants. We are actualising our commitments towardsAction@75 driven by Prime Minister Modi’s clarion call of SabkaSaath. SabkaVikas. Sabka Vishwas, SabkaPrayas in support of our co- inhabitants of this planet by becoming their voice to end a life of sufferingsaid Gajender K Sharma, Country Director, World Animal Protection.

We are proud to be part of this 75-year celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Tiranga Yatra. We support World Animal Protection for their campaign No Pride in Elephant Ride. This is a great opportunity for us to talk about freedom of these majestic beings who are bound to the chains of commodification and deserve a free life in their natural habitat.” Said DR GL Sharma, Patron and Shri Brijendra Singh Rajawat, President Rajasthan Road Riders.

“While we celebrate our freedom and progress made in these 75 years, we request the government of Rajasthan to conduct a feasibility study to help us relocate these elephants to wildlife friendly sanctuaries and implore alternative livelihood options for the elephant owners” added Gajender K Sharma, Country Director, World Animal Protection.

We urge all to join us in this campaign and sign the petition seeking to break this chain of demand and supply and help to enable relocate and rehabilitate these wild creatures, gifting them a deserving and free life devoid of silent suffering. #noprideinelephantride
