A seminar on National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 was organized by Surya Foundation in Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. The objective of the seminar was to specify ways and means to make education more affordable and reachable to all sections of the society. The seminar also suggested ways of cutting down the mental and physical burden on the students by reducing the weight of the school bags. Padmashree Jaiprakash Agarwal, Chairman-Surya Foundation has always believed that the education should be more enriching, and not a factor for triggering the physical and mental stress on children. With his inspiration, the Education Think Tank of Surya Foundation has developed and designed Surya Bharati books that contain the entire syllabus of a particular class in a single integrated book “One Class-One Book – All in One”. The emphasis was to make the contents of these books comprehensible, and self-explanatory. The books were developed as a result of hard work, struggle, passion, and dedication of academicians namely Prof. H.L Sharma, Prof.Chandrabhushan, Shri Gangadutt Sharma, Shri Prabhakar Dwivedi, Shri Shanti Swaroop Rastogi, Shri T.R. Gupta, Dr.GujjarmalVerma, Prof. D.P. Nayyar and many more.
Prof. H.L. Sharma addressed the participants stating that the Book Designing Committee developed the contents in accordance with the culture of Sanatan as well as modern India. The stories, quizzes and different pictures depict the great culture and history of Bharat. It also promotes environmental protection. The lessons in the books have been designed in accordance with the guidelines of the National Education Policy 2020. These books are useful not only for children but also their parents, teachers, Educationists and members of the education management committees. Presently, these books are being adopted by many schools for Learning Outcomes, Concept Mapping, Minimum Level of Learning (MLL), Constructism and Mastery Learning. The books are being taught in schools run by various NGOs in many states as well as some Public Schools, more than 300 Surya SanskarKendras etc. The books and their contents have been applauded by Educationists, Teachers, management committees and NGOs such as Vidya Bharti, Sewa Bharti, SanatanDharm Shiksha Samiti etc.
The seminar was graced by NCERT, SCERT, DIETs
of Delhi, Vice Chancellor of Tehri School of Advanced Studies, some Professors
of Delhi University, representatives of social organizations and Academicians
of reputed institutions.
